• 2008-5-26 All donated medicines by Tongji and China Construction Bank (Nanning Xincheng branch) sent by our medical team have been utilized in hospitals in Mianzhu of Sichuan. As of today, our medical team has carried out a total of 66 cases of surgery, received 318 patients, 130 person-time infusions and 11-trip of patients’ pick-up. Tongji medical rescue team gains the unanimous recognition and praise by local leaders, hospitals and patients.

Team members look a little tired.
  • 2008-5-21After various efforts and negotiations, we applied for and got 10 quilts in the rescue station, however, some team members found their bodies suffered skin rash when getting up this morning. It’s estimated that there are fleas in the quilts. We would like to put the quilts under the sun for drying yet it rained.
  • 2008-5-20As of 9:00 p.m., our medical team has conducted 20 cases of surgery totally, provided consultation for more than 50 people, intravenous infusion for 20 person-times and made 3-trip of patients pick up. Our relief team has increasingly walked toward the right track and played a pivotal role in the rescue station. Basically surgeries are conducted by our doctors and they are quite successful. The rescue team enjoys high reputation by local people and medical staff. At the same time, quilt issue for the team members has been resolved, further more, they could eat rice.

  • 2008-5-20As of this noon, we helped Mianzhu People's Hospital with anesthesia for 4 surgeries, carried out a total of 14 cases of surgery. Over 100 patients have received treatment. Rescue team members look more freshly with proactive passion for work. They are praised by victims of calamity and local medical personnel.

  • 2008-5-19Power supply has been basically returned to normal in Mianzhu Stadium today. Vice President Lv Jingxi involved in five operations totally, three surgeries in the morning and at noon, while the other two in the afternoon as well as one operation still to be carried out.   • 2008-5-18Tongji medical rescue team arrives in the hardest-hit area--Mianzhu City smoothly with the help of Secretary-General Fan Keqin of Guangxi Chamber of Commerce in Sichuan as well as Wu Yanxiang, secretary of Party Committee of Sichuan Investment-Inviting Bureau. At present, the team has settled down in a temporary medical aid site in the stadium set up by Mianzhu Government. Together with experts from the 44th Chengdu Military Hospital, Tongji rescue team assists the People’s Hospital of Mianzhu with medical relief work. In order to avoid the epidemic, all towns and townships with serious housing collapse have been strictly blockaded, and most of the wounded in Mianzhu City were taken to this medical relief point after the sixth day of earthquake. However, rescue teams could only handle simple debridement without carrying out surgery temporarily because the current water-electricity supply was not normal.   • 2008-5-18 Tongji team members get up very early after a night's rest in Chengdu. Then everyone cleans up luggage, carry-on drugs and equipment for starting relief work. We all anxiously hope to get to the frontline of disaster areas as soon as possible to rescue the wounded, yet it needs to get Sichuan Provincial Health of Bureau and other relevant departments’ approval to access to the hardest-hit areas.
